… CNN) – French prosecutors said Friday they are considering widening an investigation into former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn’s alleged participation in a prostitution ring.
The prosecutor’s office in Lille told CNN that investigating judges had drafted a preliminary order concerning allegations of gang rape made against Strauss-Kahn. The order had been sent to the prosecution on March 30.
“Currently the prosecutor is analyzing the order to decide whether to close the matter or open a preliminary investigation into the allegations,” the prosecutor’s office said.
The French newspaper Liberation reported Friday that the allegations stemmed from statements made by two women it describes as “escort girls,” who were interviewed by Belgian police as part of an investigation into a prostitution ring run out of the Carlton Hotel in Lille, near France’s border with Belgium.

In March, Secular Pro-Life broke the story that Drexel was promoting two pro-abortion pro bono projects. The pro-life group highlighted the two projects in its boycott call:
The “Judicial Bypass Intake Project” involves law students in legal proceedings that allow minors to have abortions without their parents’ knowledge. Some of those girls likely go to the local Planned Parenthood, which has a history of providing inadequate follow-up care for its abortion patients. Drexel has provided no assurances that these girls will have access to prompt emergency care in the event of a complication.
A second project, the “Abortion Clinic Escort Service,” encourages law students to threaten pro-life sidewalk counselors with bogus lawsuits. Although Drexel has changed the wording of that project’s description on its website, it has not contacted Secular Pro-Life to explain any substantive reforms to the project, despite repeated requests.

… I’d clean house,” Romney told radio host Laura Ingraham. “The right thing to do is to remove people who have violated the public trust and have put their play time and their personal interests ahead of the interests of the nation.”
Among key Republicans on Capitol Hill, there was support for Sullivan and deference to his investigation — a recognition by some in Congress that the scandal needs no spinning and that any congressional action must have credibility with voters.
It’s about national security, Republicans say. But there’s no question the hubbub also is about illicit sex, a topic not eagerly discussed by a long list of lawmakers who have transgressed in that department.
Louisiana Republican Sen. David Vitter, for example, admitted in 2007 to a “serious sin” after his telephone number had appeared in the records of a Washington-area escort service that authorities said was a front for prostitution. Vitter, a member of the Armed Services Committee, won re-election in 2010.

UPDATE: Congress leaders, top Obama adviser say Secret Service must act firmly to fix scandal
WASHINGTON (AP) — The chairman of a House committee investigating the alleged Secret Service prostitution scandal is predicting more firings, but lawmakers and President Barack Obama’s top campaign adviser are expressing confidence that the agency will effectively deal with the incident.
House Homeland Security Committee chairman Peter King says “every possible lead is being examined” in the case. King says he’s baffled by the alleged behavior, telling NBC’s “Meet the Press”: “What they were thinking is beyond me.”
So far, six agents have lost their jobs while another six are being investigated along with 11 members of the military.
