… They should listen to public opinion,” King said. “They should listen to the deep wounds and anguish this is causing to good people. And if the imam and Muslim leadership in that community is so intent on building bridges, then they should voluntarily move the mosque away from Ground Zero.”
While the president vacationed in Florida, support from prominent Democrats was noticeably absent, the exception being New York City Congressman Jerry Nadler.
“Ground Zero is hallowed ground,” he said. “Two blocks away, first of all, is not so hallowed.”
In fact, within four blocks of Ground Zero, Eyewitness News found two strip clubs, an adult video and lingerie store, off-track betting, and, a few blocks away, a mosque that has been a part of the neighborhood since the World Trade Center opened its doors 40 years ago.
