Despite his hobble, Bard has managed, in recent games, to achieve the baserunning must-dos. Saturday, he scored from second on a single. Tuesday, he stretched from first to third on a single. Still, he also slammed a ball off the right-field wall, just about five feet shy of a homer, and ended up only with a single. Straight out of the batter’s box, Bard appeared to be in a home run trot. Not so, he said. “That’s about what I’ve got in the tank right now,” Bard said laughing. “I’m not a home run hitter, so I don’t pimp home runs.”
