To this day, Newt Gingrich is keeping that conservative dream alive and that Reagan torch aflame. America is beginning to get this, and it has the “Republican in Name Only” (RINO) establishment tied in knots.
Politico summarizes Drudge’s hit job on Gingrich: “The overnight Drudge Report banner: ‘Insider: Gingrich repeatedly Insulted Reagan.’ The headline linked to a devastating takedown by Elliott Abrams in the National Review, who wrote, among other things, that Gingrich had a long record of criticizing and undermining Reagan’s most transformative policies.”
Baloney. Sorry, Matt Drudge, but Mrs. Reagan’s vote of confidence carries considerably more weight than your shameless smear on behalf of the Massachusetts moderate.
Cherry picked quotes, biased headlines and hyperlinks to Newt-hating op-eds in order to patch together an ugly and distorted mosaic of the former House speaker is not journalism. It’s mercenary-style political prostitution.

As pro-lifers gatherer in Washington, D.C. for the March for Life this week, we should celebrate the great year we had in 2011. As I have gotten older, I have realized that pro-lifers need to be engaged on multiple fronts. Among other things, we need to expose our opponents, pass pro-life laws, and shift the culture. Impressive progress was made in each of these areas in 2011.
The year began with reports of the deplorable conditions found inside Kermit Gosnell’s Philadelphia abortion clinic. The story was so chilling that it even received coverage from media outlets that almost never report on abortion related scandals. Shortly thereafter, LiveAction Films released another shocking expose which depicted Planned Parenthood employees agreeing to cover-up an underage prostitution ring. This scrutiny led to Congressman Cliff Stearns (R., Fla.) calling for the first ever congressional hearings on Planned Parenthood.

Loudoun County Talks About Opting Out of Dulles Rail: Even though the first segment of the Metro extension out to Dulles is well underway, nothing is yet set in stone for the massive infrastructure project. WTOP reports that the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors has floated the idea of dropping out of the project, putting at risk two stations in the second phase of the $2.8 billion, 23-mile extension. The possibility has officials in neighboring Fairfax County nervous over how much the decision could raise costs for them.
D.C. Prostitution Bill Likely Unconstitutional: A bill introduced by Councilmember Yvette Alexander (D-Ward 7) that would allow police to declare prostitution-free zones indefinitely throughout the city is likely unconstitutional, said officials from the D.C. Attorney General’s office at a hearing yesterday. The Post reports that plenty of skepticism was expressed over the merits of Alexander’s plan, under which police would be able to ask two or more people suspected of gathering for the purposes of prostitution to disperse. Even police officials seemed to think that it wouldn’t do much, admitting that the current law that allows 10-day prostitution-free zones hasn’t yielded any arrests or cut down on prostitution in a meaningful way.

The campaign goes on! (KevinFor7.com)
D.C. Council candidate Kevin B. Chavous entered into a deal today that will end his prosecution on a solicitation of prostitution charge as long as he stays away from the scene of his alleged crime and does 32 hours of community service. Silent after the hearing except to say his campaign will continue, Chavous has yet to explain what exactly happened the night police say he negotiated oral sex for $20. Meanwhile, Tim Craig reports at D.C. Wire, the city’s attorney general and police department are pushing back on a proposal to create permanent “prostitution-free zones” in the area Chavous wants to represent. (And a hat tip to @chuckthies for headline.)

Posted at 05:23 PM ET, 01/24/2012 District’s ‘prostitution-free zones’ likely unconstitutional, AG’s office says By Tim Craig
…
Under current law, Gorman said police do not need “probable cause” to arrest someone using the prostitution-free zone statue. For the current law and Alexander’s proposal to pass constitutional muster, the Attorney General’s Office recommends it be amended to require police to prove “intent” before making an arrest in the zone.
“It should be recognized that the standard of proof required in the District to show intent to engage in prostitution is high, and may be hard to prove in many cases,” Levinson-Waldman said.
Council member Phil Mendelson (D-At large), chairman of the Judiciary Committee, said he still thinks the zones are useful in combating crime because johns and prostitutes have been less likely to do business in those areas.
“It’s about disrupting,” Mendelson said. “If the market has to move because of a prostitution-free zone, it’s going to hurt business.”

People are going home from where they watched the game in boisterous groups, where they were Happy, and full of Life and Excitement, and now there’s no talking, no more amusing verbal disparagements and derogatory remarks directed at the Quarterback Tom Brady of the New England Patriots, his wife, and his haircut, now there is just finding your coat and going home.
I don’t think anybody is mad at that guy who missed the field goal. People are just Sad.
There is only Sad.
Nobody is gonna order too-many-more drinks at the bar, so the bars are Sad. Nobody’s probably gonna buy too much more Purple stuff, like hats or T-shirts or those Purple stick-on moustaches, until next year, so everybody who sells Purple stuff is sad.*
There won’t be any more pizzas ordered for victory parties, so pizza places are Sad. Also: Chicken Wings.
Strip joints are sad because nobody’s gonna be so happy about Winning they go out more and spend the money they won from betting on the Ravens, so strippers are Sad. I wouldn’t want to be a stripper tonight, you know? Talk about a Tough Crowd.

Judge Sorts Out Sordid Bachelor Party Arrests
WASHINGTON (CN) – Cops who broke up a bachelor party featuring “scantily clad” strippers “with money in their garters” and the smell of marijuana are liable for false arrest, a federal judge ruled.
The group of revelers was arrested for unlawful entry and disorderly conduct at around 1:30 a.m. on March 15, 2008. D.C. Metropolitan Police had entered the house where the party was being held in response to a call about it.
One of the officers, Andre Parker testified about having heard about “a lot of partying going on at” the supposedly vacant home. Once inside, Parker said he observed no furniture – just a mattress and lighted candles. He also observed “provocatively” dressed women and smelled of marijuana, but he neither found narcotics nor observed any illegal activity.
